20-Minute Herbal Consult
Not sure where to begin with herbs? Book a 20-minute, one-on-one consultation at The Herb House. Our herbalist will listen, answer your questions, and point you toward herbs, extracts, or blends to explore. It’s a simple way to get personal recommendations and feel more confident in your herbal practice.
1-on-1 Consult With Corey
For a deeper conversation, book a private 60 to 90 minute session with Corey MacDonald, certified herbalist, through her herbal practice, Herbalist & Herb. You’ll have time to share your health history and goals. Corey will listen with care and offer thoughtful recommendations, which may include custom herbal blends, lifestyle suggestions, or simple ways to fold herbs into your daily rhythm.
Why It’s Called the Herb House
Our name is a nod to the historic Herb House in Marion, Virginia, once a hub of the Appalachian herb trade in the region. The connection is a family one: Marion is Corey’s husband’s hometown, and her father-in-law, a local architect involved with historic preservation, helped nominate the Marion Herb House to the National Register of Historic Places.
While the historic place and name are relevant, we also acknowledge the individual and collective contributions of those who understood the land, had wisdom for the plants, and spent their lives gathering and sharing herbs. Human history is inextricably linked to plants, and we are reminded how deeply plants have shaped wellbeing, livelihood, and culture in our region. We carry forward a spirit of honoring those relationships into what we are building in Harrisonburg, a full-service hub for our community.

I took an herbal tea making class through Red Root & Co and it was a beautiful experience. The space is warm and inviting and Corey is incredibly knowledgeable. I learned so much about the power that herbs can have and I can’t wait to continue to learn more and to go back to the space for future classes or to pick up some dried herbs or other items!
